Reference export price for Brazilian slabs stable week-on-week

The reference price for Brazilian slab exports is $540 per metric ton FOB, unchanged from last week, remaining as the highest price recorded since January, 2025.

Despite the reduced number of working days in February, analysts believe that this month the Brazilian slabs exports, in volume, are expected to exceed the 410,900 mt exported during January, not only with the resumption of sales to the US, but also with more exports to Europe.

This price level is sustained by the devaluation of the US vis-a-vis the BRL, coupled with perspectives for the resumption this month of sales to the US

Brazilian exporters maintain optimism with stability or small increases for the reference price over the next weeks, with the resumption of Brazil-US negotiations after the holidays period in Brazil.
