According to market sources, flat steel prices in Italy have recorded further slight decreases in the past week. Currently, Italian producers' domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) base prices are mostly at €485-500/mt ($548-565/mt) ex-works, down €2.5/mt, while cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices are at €570-590/mt ($644-667/mt) and €580-600/mt ($655-678/mt) ex-works respectively, both decreasing by €5/mt, week on week. The downtrend has been attributed to the lack of consumption since last September, which is mainly due to the slowdown of the automotive sector following the introduction of the new WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) testing regime.
