The last two weeks have been quiet in the Turkish flat rolled steel market. Prices in the first week of February have remained unchanged, both from producers and local traders. Purchasing activity has been slow.
This week, domestic flat rolled steel producers in Turkey did not change their offer levels. Erdemir is currently offering hot rolled coils at $850/mt base and cold rolled coils of 1-1.5 mm at $960-970/mt on effective basis, ex-works.
According to the information SteelOrbis has obtained from market sources, Colakoglu Metalurji has also maintained its prices unchanged as compared to last week, continuing to offer hot rolled coils at $830/mt ex-works.
This week, no major change has been observed in the Turkish spot market for flat rolled products either. As recently reported by SteelOrbis, spot market prices had softened by about $20/mt previously. However, this week no further drop or softening has been recorded. In particular, the major stockists and steel service centers have not changed their prices for flat rolled products.
