Over the past week, prices in the local Turkish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) market have increased by $30/mt. According to market sources, some Turkish coated steel producers are unable to give price offers since their inventories of hot rolled coil (HRC), which is used as the main raw material in PPGI production, are very low and this situation supports the upward movement of PPGI prices in the country.

Turkish producers' domestic PPGI prices are now at $925-955/mt for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI, at $765-795/mt for RAL 9002 0.5 mm PPGI and at $660-700/mt for RAL 9002 1 mm PPGI. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.

In the same week, Turkish PPGI export quotations have also moved up by $30/mt and are currently at $765-785/mt FOB.
