Over the past three weeks, demand in the Turkish spot flat steel market has decreased further. Most of the market players believe that prices will continue to decrease and so they are unwilling to make bookings except their urgent needs. Meanwhile, ongoing cash flow problems are still negatively impacting demand for flat steel in the country. According to market sources, the expectation that prices will decrease further in the coming period is strong. Therefore, demand is not expected to recover unless the prices hit the bottom.

In the same period, local stockist’ prices have decreased $10/mt for hot rolled coil (HRC) and hot rolled pickled and oiled (HR P&O), and declined by $5/mt for cold rolled coil (CRC).
