Ongoing negotiations for the export of Brazilian slab to be shipped in May remain based on the previously reported price range of $540/mt to $550/mt for sales to the US and $500/mt to $510/mt to non-US destinations, both FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, a local source told SteelOrbis. It is not clear so far if any deal was effectively closed at these price ranges.

In February Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem exported 128,300 mt of slab at $458/mt, Ternium exported 117,300 mt at $488/mt, Tubarao exported 94,900 mt at $472/mt, and Gerdau exported 2,500 mt at $623/mt, with price deals probably closed in December 2018. The main destinations were the EU (126,700 mt at $470/mt), the US (117,300 mt at $488/mt), South Korea (55,800 mt at $479/mt) and Mexico (43,200 mt at $435/mt), all FOB conditions.
