Slab of the basic commercial grades are now traded for export from Brazil at $330/mt, FOB conditions, a market source told SteelOrbis.

The price compares with $340/mt FOB last week, maintaining a downward trend since $400/mt FOB was achieved in early May.

Before May, the price was recovering from $230/mt FOB in December 2015 until the peak of $400/mt FOB in May.

According to the source, more declines are expected for the coming weeks, in line with but not as fast as the downward steel prices in China.

In May, ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported slab at $270/mt, ThyssenKrupp CSA at $283/mt and Gerdau Acominas at $236/mt, all FOB conditions, price deals probably closed in March.
