According to sources, $600/mt, against $580/mt one week ago, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, is the new reference price for negotiations of Brazilian slab exports to non-US destinations, for shipments in March.
The market remains pushed chiefly by the demand from heavy plate producers, a product supplying many gas pipeline projects currently being developed in different countries.
For shipments to the US, the reference price is now $650/mt, against $610/mt one week ago, under the same conditions.
In December, Brazil exported 482,600 mt of slab, in average at $669/mt, while imported 40,400 mt of the product from Russia at $493/mt, both FOB conditions.
In 2022, Brazil exported 6.24 million mt of slab, while imported 130,700 mt of the product.
