Nucor Plate Group sent a letter to customers Friday indicating that effective with orders acknowledged to ship the week ending August 4 through August 25, the applicable raw material surcharge (RMS) for all Nucor carbon and alloy discrete plate and plate from coil will be $165/nt ($8.25 cwt. or $182/mt).

This represents a $45/nt ($2.25 cwt. or $50/mt) reduction from the previous surcharge announcement dated June 12, 2012. Nucor said that "current market pricing has already factored in the raw material decreases we have experienced in the past 60 days. Nucor's transactional price will remain competitive in the marketplace."
