During the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has been at low levels, while domestic HDG prices in Turkey have moved sideways. Market sources state that Turkish buyers have postponed their purchases due to their expectations of a decline in global flat steel quotations.

Accordingly, domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market have moved sideways week on week, excluding 18 percent VAT and are at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

780-800

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

720-765

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

Meanwhile, demand for Turkish HDG in international markets have increased slightly over the past week, causing Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations to move up by $15/mt week on week to $760-790/mt FOB.
