During the week ending January 18, the Chinese domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) market has indicated a stable trend, though average cold rolled sheet (CRS) prices have increased slightly, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at low levels. Average cold rolled product prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the week in question, average domestic CRC prices have moved on a stable trend with support from relatively high costs. Meanwhile, short supply has continued to be observed in the Chinese domestic CRC market, exerting a positive impact on CRC prices. However, with the approach of the Chinese New Year Holiday, demand has slacked from the downstream users and buyers are mostly maintaining a wait-and-see stance as regards purchases due to the current relatively high price levels. The resulting low transaction activity has exerted some negative pressure on domestic CRC prices. It is thought that CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely just continue their stable trend in the coming week.
