Local Turkish steel plate spot market moves on rising trend despite low demand

Demand in the Turkish domestic steel plate spot market has remained sluggish during the past two weeks. However, prices in the market have increased by $40/mt on average due to the uptrend of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices. Meanwhile, three major US steel producers had filed petitions against imports of certain carbon and alloy steel cut-to-length plate from several countries, including Turkey, with an alleged dumping margin in the range of 36.09-52.09 percent for Turkey. Last week, the US International Trade Commission (USITC) announced that it has accordingly initiated an antidumping duty investigation.
