Flats import prices on a declining trend in Peru and Ecuador

SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that import prices for both CRC and HRC are on a declining trend in two South American countries.

A Brazilian trader reported China was selling CRC and HRC to Peru at CFR LO $420/mt and CFR LO $380/mt, respectively.

“The world economy isn’t performing well, and as a result, these countries have been affected,” he said, adding that CRC and HRC import prices to Peru are expected to decline by $20/mt in August.

Sources say the same downtrend in prices in expected to reach Ecuadorian imports of CRC and HRC. “The price difference between CRC, HRC in these two countries is not that big. But prices in Ecuador are slightly better.”

CRC and HRC prices from Ecuador are reported at CFR LO $375/mt and CFR LO $415/mt.
