Demand in the European flat steel market is at low levels due to the approaching Christmas holiday and year-end, while prices in the market have remained stable over the past two weeks. Market sources state that European flat steel producers are very pleased with their 2017 sales and are aiming for at least a €20/mt price increase for January next year.

During the past two weeks, flat steel quotations in Europe have remained stable. Accordingly, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices are still at €490-530/mt ($583-631/mt) ex-works, while cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices are at €570-610/mt ($678-726/mt) ex-works and €590-640/mt ($702-762/mt) ex-works, respectively.
