Over the past month, demand for domestic flat steel in northern Europe has been strong, while it has been slack in southern Europe. Meanwhile, prices in the local European flat steel market have moved downwards, since import flat steel quotations to the region have decreased in line with the declines seen in global flat steel prices. Market sources state that flat steel demand in Europe is expected to slowdown in the coming period due to the upcoming Christmas period and prices are expected to fluctuate in line with the global market trend.

Over the past month, in the local European market, hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) prices have decreased by €10/mt to €490-530/mt ($568-615/mt) and to €570-610/mt ($661-708/mt) respectively, while hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have declined by €20/mt in the same period to €590-640/mt ($684-742/mt), all ex-works.
