On November 10, Pakistani producers of cold rolled (CR) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coils have raised their offer prices, citing increased costs. “As 100 percent [HRC] importers, we are likely to face certain problems shortly. Literally, within the past week ex-China HRC offers to Pakistan have soared by $55-60/mt to $590-600/mt CFR Karachi,” the representative of a Pakistani steel mill stated. However, another source emphasized the substantial support from end-user demand. “Steel consumption in Pakistan is on a path of quick recovery from the severe pressure of Covid-19-related impacts,” he commented.
Accordingly, SteelOrbis has learned that prices for CRC and HDG in Pakistan have increased by PKR 3,000/mt (about $19/mt) compared to previous offers, after no revisions had been seen since the beginning of September. The dollar-based quotations have risen by $48-54/mt due to the revaluation of the Pakistani rupee.
