The coated steel and cold rolled coil (CRC) segments remain the key driver for the price uptrend in the flats market of Turkey. Demand remains sufficient and mills are mainly offering for March production. In the meantime, prices have once again increased - and again by very significant margins - over the past week.

CRC is now offered in the local market at $830-860/mt ex-works, up by $85-90/mt over the past week. “It seems every re-roller has a limited allocation to sell nowadays and buyers simply cannot find what they need,” a trader told SteelOrbis. Sufficient demand and limited supply have resulted in certain interest in import material. According to sources, ex-Russia latest deals have been closed at $770-775/mt CFR Turkey, while the most recent confirmed sale from Ukraine has been reported at $740/mt CFR. Chinese offers have been heard at $770-780/mt CFR.

In the coated steel segment, prices have again increased since earlier this week. Currently, HDG offers are at $870-900/mt ex-works, up by $20-30/mt, while PPGI is available at $960-980/mt ex-works, up $40-80/mt. Both levels are for base specifications.
