The domestic demand for flat steel in Turkey, particularly for the coated and CR flat steel, has been rather slow after the holiday with the demand being at pretty much the same low levels as in the middle of May. The prices, however, have seen little change over the past couple of weeks considering that HRC prices levels have shown little fluctuation. In addition, the low level of end-user activity in Turkey in view of political and related financial issues has limited any upward mood among local re-rolling companies. Currently, the offers are for July and early August production.
Most domestic HDG 0.5 mm Z100 prices in Turkey are at $810-830/mt ex-works in the initial offers. However, some sources report a few mills are accepting $790-805/mt ex-works as well. As a result, the range has widened from the earlier $800-825/mt ex-works levels. In the PPGI segment, the domestic price level for Z100 material is at $910-960/mt ex-works officially, versus $920-960/mt ex-works earlier, while some suppliers are said to be indicating $880-930/mt ex-works for commercial quality as well. According to sources, PPGI export prices have been at $880-930/mt FOB, up $10/mt on the upper end over the past week. Still, some $10-20/mt higher levels are also present in the market.
