During the week ending June 19, average prices of medium steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have indicated an upward trend, with transaction activity in the overall steel plate market at medium levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the table below.
During the given week, the increases in the ferrous metal futures market in China have exerted a positive impact on the domestic finished steel spot prices, also pushing up steel plate prices. In addition, some shortages on the supply side have provided support for steel plate prices. However, the rainy season in the Yangtze river region is expected to result in slower demand. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
