Different sources in Brazil told SteelOrbis that current slab export prices remain stagnant, with no movement following the recent Chinese holiday, as previously expected.

Slab producers and their clients are arguing that prices will go up or down, depending on their opinions, but a decision on fresh deals remains postponed,” one source linked to an exporter said, adding that he offered a deal at $490/mt, FOB conditions, but the client refused it.

A second source, from other slab exporter, confirmed that no fresh deals were closed in the last week, adding that the company will not close new deals under $500/mt FOB conditions, on principle, unless a clear trend is confirmed.

A third source mentioned that buyers are willing to accept $450/mt FOB conditions, but no slab producer has accepted the offer so far.
