After achieving an all-time high in October with 745,300 mt, Brazilian slab exports are heading toward a decline in November, according to preliminary figures from the country’s customs authorities.

A local exporter told SteelOrbis that prices for fresh export deals are still under discussion, but it is possible to notice that there is a downward trend, as sellers are considering a range of $440-$470/mt FOB for basic commercial grades, against a range of $480/mt to $490/mt over the last few weeks.

Another market source mentioned rumors that one fresh deal was effectively closed at $440/mt FOB.

In October, ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported slab at $439/mt, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem at $421/mt, Ternium Brazil at $432/mt and Gerdau Acominas at $405/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in August.
