Brazilian producers are negotiating the slab export offers in a price range of $425/mt to $435/mt, FOB conditions for the base commercial grades to Europe and Latin America, the same range as last week, a local market source told SteelOrbis.
The source mentioned that $420/mt could be considered for sales to Asian countries, to compensate for the higher sea freight and logistics costs.
The source added that for negotiations with US customers, starting in September, a range of $450/mt to $460/mt is expected. Such deals are for deliveries to reach US ports in January, under US section 232 quotas.
Preliminary numbers from customs point to a reduction in August from the 435,300 mt of slab exported from Brazil in July.
