Brazilian producers are negotiating slab export offers at $440/mt, against $435/mt last week, FOB conditions for the base commercial grades, a local market source told SteelOrbis.
The EU remains the main target for Brazilian export slab, followed by Latin America and Asia, while negotiations with clients in the US are set to be resumed in September, in a schedule dictated by quotas under the US Section 232 regulations, the source said.
In June, Brazil exported 430,300 mt of slab, of which 331,000 mt at $545/mt to the US, 49,400 mt at $504/mt to Mexico, 26,200 mt at $501/mt to the Czech Republic, and 20,600 mt at $527/mt to Canada, all FOB conditions and price deals probably closed in April. Small volumes were shipped to China and South Korea. Preliminary indications from the local customs authorities point to a stable volume of slab being exported in July compared to June.
