Sources in Brazil told SteelOrbis that the slab export market remains unchanged over the last two weeks, with no fresh deals reported.

One of the sources mentioned that producers are now accepting a range of $480/mt to $490/mt, FOB conditions, as the base for negotiations for the export of slab of the basic commercial grades, adding that the current lack of new sales will have a negative impact on the volume of slab to leave Brazilian ports in December.

A second source mentioned that buyers and sellers are apparently far from an agreement on prices, as buyers remain stuck at $450/mt, FOB conditions, as the base for negotiations.

Preliminary indications from the Brazilian customs authorities point to a significant increase of slab exports in October, from the 500,000 mt exported in September.
