Brazilian producers are negotiating slab of the basic commercial grades for exports to Europe in a price range of $495/mt to $505/mt FOB, against a range of $490/mt to $500/mt FOB last week.

According to the source, no fresh deals are being closed for exports to the US, as the Section 232 quota for this year under the US section 232 is exhausted, so buyers are waiting for the second half of October to resume negotiations.

Such negotiations are set to cover shipments to be made during the second half of December, arriving in the US ports in 2019 and clearing customs under the new tariff-free quota.

The last reference price for slab exports from Brazil to the US was $530/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.
