Baosteel keeps local HRC prices stable for May

Major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has issued its prices for carbon steel flat products for delivery in May this year.

The producer has decided to keep its local base prices stable for hot rolled coil (HRC), steel plate, acid pickling plate, cold rolled coil (CRC), hot dip galvanized (HDG), pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI), galvalume, medium-aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium, high-aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium and non-grain-oriented silicon steel for delivery in May.

Demand in May, which is regarded as the traditional offseason for business, is anticipated to be slack, weakening the support for steel prices. At the same time, the tariff issue between the US and China will also exert a negative impact on the steel market.
