West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel announced Friday that a $455/net ton ($22.75 cwt. or $502/mt) surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in August 2011, representing a $15/nt ($0.75 cwt. or $17/mt) increase over the July-shipment surcharge.

AK Steel's surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the June 2011 purchase cost used to determine the August 2011 surcharges.
