AK Steel, ArcelorMittal and Severstal NA announce flat rolled price increase

On Thursday, West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel announced that it will increase current spot market base prices for all carbon flat-rolled steel products by a minimum of $2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt), effective immediately with new orders.

Also Thursday, ArcelorMittal USA and Severstal North America informed customers of new minimum base prices for its flat steel products, rather than announcing an specific price increase. Both mills said that new hot rolled coil (HRC) prices would be $30.50 cwt. ($672/mt or $610/nt) ex-mill and cold rolled coil (CRC) and Galvanized base prices would be $35.50 cwt. ($783/mt or $710/nt) ex-mill.

The moves follow a leading move from US Steel on Wednesday.
