AK Steel announced this week that it will increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products by $30 /nt ($33 /mt or $1.50 cwt.), effective for new orders accepted for shipment as of March 1, 2007. The Middletown, Ohio-based steelmaker stated that the price increase is in response to increased demand for carbon steel products as well as increased
steelmaking costs. AK Steel produces flat rolled carbon,
stainless, and electrical steel products as well as carbon and
stainless tubular steel products.
