Ohio-based flat rolled steel manufacturer AK Steel announced Wednesday that it will increase spot prices for its carbon steel products by $30/net ton for all new orders accepted for shipment on October 1, 2007 and later.

The company said the price increase is in response to increased demand for carbon steel products and higher steelmaking costs.

AK Steel produces flat rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
