China’s June finished steel exports down 72 percent year on year

In June, China's finished steel exports totaled 1.4419 million mt, down 3.7748 million mt or 72.36 percent year on year, totaling a value of $1.358 billion, down $4.075 billion or 75 percent compared with the same month last year. In addition, finished steel exports for the January-June period reached 9.3509 million mt, down 17.5615 million mt or 62.25 percent, amounting to a total value of $10.235 billion, down $14.991 billion or 59.43 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, China's finished steel imports in June totaled 1.6296 million mt, up 378,100 mt or 30.21 percent year on year, totaling $1.708 billion in value, down $214 million or 11.13 percent compared with the same month last year. In addition, finished steel imports for the January-June period reached 8.1343 million mt, down 117,800 mt or 1.43 percent, amounting to a value of $8.1343 billion, down $2.037 billion or 17.93 percent year on year.

In June, the country's net imports of finished steel amounted to 187,700 mt, totaling a value of $350 million. The average export price was $942.1/mt, down $99.38/mt or 9.54 percent year on year. The average import price was $1,047.93/mt, down $487.56/mt or 31.75 percent year on year. The export price was $105.83/mt or 10.09 percent lower than the import price.
