The planned high quality belt-roasting pellet production line of Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Chengde Zhaofeng Iron and Steel Co., Ltd is expected to be put into operation in December 2025. The pellet production line will produce 10 million mt of pellet per year, with an overall investment of RMB 3.715 billion ($0.52 billion).

In November 2020, Zhaofeng Steel had halted its production of steel within the scope of the government’s national energy saving and emission reduction policy and the limitations on iron and steel capacity. At the time, Zhaofeng Steel had 1.4834 million mt of ironmaking capacity and 1.7 million mt of steelmaking capacity annually.
