Zaporizhstal's steel exports up 6.2 percent in 2015

In 2015, Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal's steel exports increased by 6.2 percent to approximately 2.9 million mt compared to 2014, according to the company's results. Exports were mainly made to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and other regions.

In the given year, Zaporizhstal's steel exports to the EU increased by 20 percent year on year, exports to eastern and southern European countries has increased in particular due to the benefits of water transportation through the river port of Zaporozhia. The increase in rail transport costs in Ukraine led to a 13 percent decline in exports to Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Estonia and Lithuania.

Meanwhile, in 2015 the company’s pig iron production rose by 8.4 percent year on year, while production of rolled products remained at the 2014 level.
