Yidong Coal Group to carry out trials at calcium carbide project

Inner Mongolia-based Chinese coal company Yidong Coal Group is planning to carry out trial production at its new calcium carbide project, according to Chinese media sources.

The project is based in Sha Ge Du economic development zone in the city of E Er Duo Si in Inner Mongolia, China. The total investment in the overall project is expected to reach RMB 1.02 billion ($157.6 million). Six calcium carbide furnaces have been built in the first phase, which has cost an investment of RMB 510 million ($78.8 million). These furnaces are expected to produce 0.45 million mt of calcium carbide per year.
