Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works issues 2008 production results

The Ukrainian steelmaker Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works (EMZ) has issued its preliminary production results for 2008.

In 2008, EMZ saw a 4.7 percent increase in its pig iron production to 2.563 million mt, a two percent decrease in its crude steel production to 2.733 million mt, a 2.7 percent drop in its finished steel output to 2.695 million mt, and a 9.4 percent fall in its agglomerate production to 2.017 million mt, all compared to 2007.

In December, EMZ increased its agglomerate production by 34.9 percent, its pig iron production by 39.2 percent, its crude steel production by 47.8 percent, and its finished steel output by 42.3 percent, all compared to the data for November. The respective figures in metric tons were 143,000, 181,000, 198,000 and 185,000.
