Xuanhua Steel successfully ignites converter No. 1

Hebei Province-based Chinese steel producer Xuanhua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd, subsidiary of major domestic steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group, has announced that it has successfully ignited converter No. 1 at its new steelmaking project.

The project, launched on October 25, 2009, involved the building of a converter of 490 mt in weight, 7,300 mm in diameter and 10,294 mm in height. The designed annual production capacity of molten steel of the converter is 3.4 million mt approximately.
