Chengde Group starts construction on stainless cold rolling project

Construction commenced on November 1 on the new stainless steel cold rolling project of Guangxi Province-based Chinese steelmaker Chengde Group, as announced by Beijing-based state-owned China Metallurgical Corporation (MCC) on November 5. The construction work on the project is being carried out by MCC subsidiary China First Metallurgical Group Co.

The project in question will have an annual output capacity of 1.2 million mt of cold rolled stainless steel. It will include continuous cold rolling units, annealing and pickling units, and other related units. According to MCC, the stainless cold rolling units will be the most technologically advanced in China, while the annealing and pickling units will be able to operate at a speed of up to 180 meters per minute.
