Benxi Steel to eliminate five small blast furnaces

On August 29, Liaoning-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Steel announced that five blast furnaces with volumes below 530 m3 in its Beiying Rolling Mill is expected to be eliminated in line with Benxi City's upgrading and reconstruction project aiming to reduce the air pollution from facilities.

Accordingly, in order to improve environmental quality, Benxi Steel will also complete the desulphurization project in its sintering machines in its iron making plant and sintering machines in Beiying Rolling Mill.   .

Moreover, during China's 12th Five-Year Development Plan period, Benxi Steel will invest RMB 68 billion ($11.11 billion) to energy saving, emission reduction and outdated production elimination.
