Henan-based Chinese steelmaker Wuyang Steel, a subsidiary of Hebei Steel Group, has received another supply order relating to the construction of the Nam Ngum River hydropower station in Laos. The order is for 1,400 mt of high strength steel plates, including 1,000 mt of WDB 620 grade plates, which will be used to produce steel pipes for pressure diversion at the power station.
In March this year, Wuyang Steel won a tender for the supply of 2,263 mt of high strength steel plates, including 490 mt of plates of WDB 620 grade, for the same power station.
Wuyang Steel owns independent intellectual property rights for WDB 620 steel which is specifically applied at hydropower stations in steel pipes used for pressure diversion. Since the beginning of 2010, the steelmaker has already supplied over 3,800 mt of WDB 620 steel plate to several hydropower stations at home and abroad.
