World pig iron output down 1.86 percent in January-November

In November this year, world pig iron production amounted to 90.54 million mt, declining by 4.7 percent compared to October and by 1.18 percent compared to the same month of 2014, according to the preliminary data covering 38 countries accounting for approximately 99 percent of total world blast furnace pig iron production, released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
 
Meanwhile, in the January-November period of this year, world pig iron production totaled 1.063 billion mt, down 1.86 percent compared to the same period of 2014.
 
In November, pig iron output in Asia amounted to 69.99 million mt, up 0.46 percent, with 53.67 million mt produced by China, rising by 0.83 percent, 6.67 million mt produced by Japan, down 4.03 percent, and 4.54 million mt produced by India, rising by 3.65 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the same month, EU countries produced 7.05 million mt of pig iron, down 10.3 percent, while the CIS produced 6.55 million mt, up 6.16 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
