WISCO to increase its self-sufficiency in iron ore supplies

At a shareholders' meeting, Chinese steel producer Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. (WISCO) stated that it expects to boost its self-sufficiency in iron ore supplies in the future.

Accordingly, WISCO is expected to raise its self-sufficiency in iron ore supplies to 4-5 million mt in 2011. At present, WISCO has seven mining subsidiaries worldwide. In 2010, WISCO's iron ore supplies from its own sources were in the range of 2-3 million mt.
