Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. (WISCO) has produced 2,000 mt of hot rolled pickled flat steel at its first hot rolled pickling line, which is located at its Beihu processing and distribution center.

The new hot rolled picking line is expected to boost WISCO’s profits, as the pickling can add RMB 200/mt ($32/mt) to the value of products, while the cost of pickling is just RMB 100/mt ($16/mt).

Production of the first order at the pickling line has been successfully completed, with 99.5 percent of products in line with the required standard. The capacity of the pickling line is expected to reach 300,000 mt in 2013.
