Verkh-Isetsky Iron and Steel Works (VIZ-Stal), the second-largest Russian producer of grain-oriented electrical steel and a subsidiary of the Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), has commissioned the production of 0.23 mm thick transformer steel sheets.
The development of this new production enables VIZ-Stal to enter a new rapidly growing market of high-power transformer components.
For the development of the new product which is characterized by lower magnetic losses, NLMK's specialists have mastered a new, higher Mn content steel grade and have also improved the cold rolling transformer steel production process at VIZ-Stal.
Currently, NLMK is proceeding with the improvement of the production of semi-finished rolled steel for hot rolling as well as of steel treatment processes at VIZ-Stal.
