Vietnam to commission nine new steel plants in 2011

The Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) has stated that by the end of this year nine new steel production facilities are expected to be commissioned in Vietnam.

The steel facilities in question are mostly located in Vungtau, BinhDuong and DaNangi in Vietnam, with the aggregate designed capacities including two million mt of wire rod and one million mt of semi-finished steel.

In addition, a further four new steel facilities are expected to be commissioned in Vietnam in 2012, with aggregate steelmaking capacities of one million mt of semi-finished steel, 300,000 mt of wire rod and 150,000 mt of stainless steel.

According to the VSA, crude steel output in Vietnam this year up to the end of April totaled 8.99 million mt.
