Uttam Galva to double cold rolled steel capacity

Indian steelmaker Uttam Galva announced plans to increase its annual cold rolled steel capacity to 1 million metric tons from the existing 500,000 metric tons. The company will close one of the cold rolling plants for a period of 45 days in order to facilitate the expansion. This closure will cause production to decrease by 20 percent in the quarter ending June 2006.
