Usiminas to build a new BF in Menais Gerais

According to recent news in the market, Brazilian steel producer Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (Usiminas) is planning to build a new blast furnace in Ipatinga in Menais Gerais state of Brazil. Usiminas currently produces 4.8 million tons of steel products per annum. With this new blast furnace, annual production capacity of the company will increase to 6.8 million tons. The new blast furnace is scheduled to be operational in 2008.
