Usiminas and Gerdau not interested in ThyssenKrupp stake in CSA

Brazilian steelmakers Gerdau and Usiminas have said that they are not interested in bidding for the German steel giant ThyssenKrupp's 73.1 percent stake in Brazil-based slab venture Companhia Siderúrgica do Atlântico (CSA), according to media reports.

While the flat steel producer Usiminas, which is carrying out a R$14 billion ($6.84 billion) expansion, said that they are not considering the purchase of all or part of CSA, Gerdau is focusing on its own projects. However, there is a general belief that the mill might attract foreign investors, if not the Brazil-based steelmakers.

ThyssenKrupp stated last week that it is seeking a partner or buyer for its stake in CSA and a sister mill in the southern US.
