According to the most recent report by Baker Hughes, for the week ending September 2, the US rotary rig count fell by seven from the previous week to 1,968. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 315 rigs.
The decline in US rig counts stemmed from decreases in both oil and gas rigs. Oil rigs were down five (up 399 year-on-year) and gas rigs fell by three (down 82 year-on-year).
On the other hand, the Canadian rig count is up nine in the last week and is now at 517, representing a year-on-year increase of 129 rigs.
