US rig counts drop again while Canada’s rig count rises

According to Friday's report from Baker Hughes, for the week ending June 29, the US rig count fell by seven to 1,959, following a five-rig drop a week ago. The rig count remained up 73 year-on-year. While oil drilling in the US was unchanged in the last week at 1,421 (a 25-year high), rigs drilling for gas fell by seven to 534.

The Canadian rig count increased last week, rising by 23 to 261, reflecting a 21-rig increase compared to the same week a year ago.
