Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending September 14, the US rig count held steady at 1,864 rigs, still reflecting a 121-rig decrease year-on-year. Rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 1,413 but were offset by a four-rig decrease in gas-directed drilling.

On the other hand, Canada's rig count increased by nine over the past week to 354 but remains down 148 year-over-year.
